Founding Operator (Life Sciences)

Location: London, UK — on-site. Full-time role; start as soon as possible. Candidates must already be based in London or be ready to move.

hirify.global is building an automated lab that enables AI agents to run biology experiments, combining software, hardware, laboratory automation, data pipelines, and AI systems for biotech and biopharma customers.

What you will do

• Take the London site from lease to an operational lab, managing fit-out, contractors, equipment, suppliers, permits, timelines, and budget.
• Hire the founding UK team across lab operations, automation, and science with the founders.
• Establish and run the hirify.global UK entity, including banking, accounting, payroll, insurance, budgeting, contracts, and operational systems.
• Own the local customer experience from onboarding through experiment delivery in coordination with commercial and scientific teams in Lausanne.
• Build relationships with landlords, contractors, vendors, universities, biotechs, partners, and the London life-sciences ecosystem.
• Help develop the London lab as a UK protein-engineering hub, with high-throughput protein production and characterisation capabilities.

Requirements

• Experience building something from zero, ideally a new site, geography, business unit, or physical operation for a fast-growing company.
• Relevant experience in labs, clinics, manufacturing, hardware, or other infrastructure-heavy businesses is particularly relevant.
• Ability to operate as an exceptional generalist across property, finance, legal, hiring, customers, and operations.
• Ability to negotiate, make decisions, follow up, and keep complex projects moving.
• High degree of ownership and ability to work without predefined processes or close direction.
• Strong life-sciences background, through a degree and/or professional experience; familiarity with the industry is required for building a lab, hiring scientists, working with biotech customers, and negotiating with lab landlords and instrument vendors.
• Comfort using AI tools such as Claude Code and hirify.global’s own software as part of daily work.
• Must be in London or ready to move to London for this hands-on, on-site role.

Nice to have

• Experience with labs, clinics, manufacturing, hardware, or other infrastructure-heavy operations.
• Degree or professional experience in the life sciences is highly preferred.
