Senior Proposals Engineer (Energy)

Location: Hybrid role based in Knowsley/Liverpool, United Kingdom, with UK travel as required.

What you will do

• Own customer enquiries and tenders, interpret project objectives and technical specifications, and develop technically robust, commercially competitive proposals.
• Coordinate technical, commercial and operational inputs from customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders through proposal submission.
• Work with Sales Engineers, Engineering, Commercial and Project Management teams to assess technical risks, commercial conditions and delivery considerations.
• Manage customer, supplier and subcontractor questions, obtain quotations, evaluate solutions and strengthen proposal quality.
• Support work-in-progress reviews, workload planning, best-practice improvements and the development of less experienced Proposals Engineers.
• Maintain accurate proposal records, support Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, and provide effective handover to Project Delivery teams after contract award.

Requirements

• Experience in proposals, bids or technical sales within the engineering sector.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
• Experience evaluating technical and commercial risk and understanding contract terms and commercial conditions.
• Strong planning, organisational and project coordination skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• A proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Nice to have

• Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering discipline.
• Experience with gas engine technology.
• Experience in power generation, energy or industrial engineering sectors.
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members.
