Plate Structures Designer

What you will do

• Produce accurate detail drawings for customer approval, fabrication, and construction according to applicable design codes, company standards, customer drawings, and specifications.
• Create drawings and bills of material for plate structures, associated foundations, structural components, and piping related to storage solutions.
• Ensure drawing details are safe for field erection and use, with constructability in mind.
• Compare drawings and bills of material with as-sold estimates and advise the project team of discrepancies.
• Run programs and use document-management, collaboration, and productivity tools to complete deliverables.
• Estimate task duration and commit to definitive deadlines while working with project engineers, designers, engineers, and managers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma and at least one year of post-high-school education, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD using platforms such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of steel-detailing practices and applicable standard industry conventions.
• Skills in geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs, and basic bills of material.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify and solve complex problems, analyze information, multitask, manage tight deadlines, and adapt to varying and complex environments.
• Ability to collaborate across the business, build credibility with senior management, and demonstrate negotiation, interpersonal, and business-partnering skills.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or two-year technical degree, or equivalent experience.
