Materials Project Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Kalispell, MT, United States; travel required 10% of the time; relocation is not available.

Salary: $68,000.00–$93,500.00 per year.

What you will do

• Procure bar stock, plate, tubing, castings, forgings, specialty metals, and other raw materials for machine shop production and customer demand.
• Manage supplier relationships, pricing, contracts, delivery, quality, and capacity performance.
• Analyze engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, certifications, and production requirements to define sourcing strategies.
• Identify material substitutions, equivalent grades, alternative dimensions, forms, and supply sources.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning on material approvals, make-versus-buy evaluations, and capacity assessments.
• Drive cost savings, inventory reduction, yield improvement, scrap reduction, supply-risk management, and continuous improvement using ERP/MRP systems.

Requirements

• Expanded conceptual knowledge in the relevant discipline and the ability to broaden capabilities.
• Strong understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, material specifications, and machining processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and material certifications.
• Knowledge of material substitutions and equivalent grades, including alternative alloys, tempers, dimensions, and material forms.
• Understanding of yield optimization, nesting, and material utilization principles.
• Experience managing raw material supply risks and developing contingency sourcing plans.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
