Supply Chain Manager (Maritime Defense)

Location: Torrance, CA; on-site, working directly on the production floor. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required export authorizations without sponsorship for an export license.

Salary: $140,000–$165,000 per year, base salary only. Equity and full-time benefits are also offered.

What you will do

• Define and implement inventory practices for a new manufacturing facility, including receiving, put-away, cycle counting, and lineside replenishment.
• Configure and operate ERP/MRP systems tracking parts, BOMs, and stock levels as production scales from low-volume builds to higher-rate manufacturing.
• Work directly with engineers and technicians to triage shortages, expedite critical parts, and keep build schedules on track.
• Place and manage recurring purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers, and maintain production-aligned stock levels.
• Own shipping and receiving, including inbound inspection and outbound logistics for finished units.
• Develop inventory strategies using kanban, just-in-time, and min/max approaches, and establish reporting on inventory accuracy, lead times, and material spend.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in low-volume manufacturing, with direct ownership of procurement, inventory, or material planning.
• Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems, including setting up or significantly reconfiguring a system for a growing operation.
• Strong understanding of lineside, just-in-time, kanban, and min/max inventory strategies and their appropriate applications.
• High ownership, autonomy, and accountability, with the ability to build missing processes proactively.
• Comfort working directly with engineers and technicians on the production floor.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required export authorizations without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience at a manufacturing startup or in a prototyping environment where processes were still being established.
• Hands-on hardware experience and the ability to identify defects or quality issues before they cause shortages.
• Experience establishing material operations for a new facility from scratch.
• Familiarity with ITAR/EAR export control requirements in a defense or aerospace supply chain.
