What you will do
- Define and implement inventory practices for a new manufacturing facility, including receiving, put-away, cycle counting, and lineside replenishment.
- Select, configure, and run an ERP/MRP system to track parts, BOMs, and stock levels as production ramps.
- Interface daily with engineers and technicians to triage shortages, expedite critical parts, and maintain build schedule accuracy.
- Manage recurring purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers, and maintain inventory levels aligned to real production needs.
- Own shipping and receiving operations, including inbound inspection and outbound logistics for finished units.
- Build the production-floor inventory strategy using kanban, just-in-time, or min/max approaches and establish inventory visibility reporting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in low-volume manufacturing with direct ownership of procurement, inventory, or material planning.
- Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems, including setting up or significantly reconfiguring one for a growing operation.
- Strong understanding of inventory strategies (lineside, just-in-time, kanban, min/max) and where each applies.
- High ownership and ability to build processes before they exist.
- Comfort working directly with engineers and technicians on the production floor.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required (no sponsorship for export-license authorizations).
Nice to have
- Experience at a manufacturing startup or in a prototyping environment where processes were still being established.
- Hands-on hardware experience to spot defects/quality issues before they become shortages.
- Experience standing up a new facilityβs material operations from scratch.
- Familiarity with export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) in a defense or aerospace supply chain.
