Lead Software Engineer, AI

Location: Zug, Switzerland; hybrid work model for an office-based role. Work from anywhere is available for up to 8 weeks per year as a flexible work arrangement.

What you will do

• Set technical architecture and direction across core AI agent infrastructure, internal tooling, and production reliability initiatives.
• Architect and build production AI agent systems using modern LLM APIs, agent SDKs, orchestration, runtime infrastructure, and existing platform services.
• Design tracing, automated evaluations, monitoring, and quality or drift detection to identify regressions before they reach customers.
• Improve production deployment and operations through progressive or feature-flagged rollouts, earlier quality signals, and safer release practices.
• Lead cross-cutting design reviews and technical decisions through RFCs and ADRs while multiple initiatives progress in parallel.
• Mentor senior engineers and partner with product and engineering leadership on architecture, sequencing, and AI-native development practices.

Requirements

• Extensive experience architecting and shipping production software systems, including hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered products or agentic systems rather than only classical ML or data science.
• Direct experience with modern LLM APIs, agent frameworks or SDKs, or agent-to-tool integration protocols.
• Experience setting technical direction across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including distributed systems design, service architecture, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience designing for production reliability and observability, including monitoring, evaluation pipelines, incident response, and quality regression detection.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and influence technical culture and practices.
• Comfort operating with high autonomy on a fast-moving, senior-heavy team using AI-native and agentic engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience leading architecture for developer-facing platforms, plugin or extension systems, or integration ecosystems.
• Familiarity with progressive delivery practices such as feature flagging, phased rollout, and blue/green deployment at scale.
• Experience advancing progressive delivery, shift-left quality and testing, and engineering practices measured through deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate.
• Experience with managed agent runtime infrastructure such as AWS Bedrock AgentCore or similar platforms.
• Domain expertise in legal, regulated, professional-services, or other fiduciary domains.
