Staff Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Geneva, Switzerland; on-site with anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Candidates must be based in Geneva or be willing to relocate to Switzerland.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of critical billing features, from architecture and design through implementation and deployment.
• Collaborate with UX, Product Management, engineering teams, and go-to-market teams to release secure, user-focused features and products.
• Architect and guide on-premises and AWS cloud applications.
• Own squad deliverables and drive sprints toward successful completion.
• Oversee deployments, production monitoring, and troubleshooting of live issues.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to short- and long-term technical goals.

Requirements

• Over 6 years of software engineering experience, including experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Software Architect.
• Strong proficiency in Java and commitment to Clean Code and rigorous software quality standards.
• Experience architecting cloud-native applications and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Ability to independently drive complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and engineers.
• Experience using and guiding AI coding tools such as Codex and Claude.
• Experience supporting and mentoring other engineers.

Nice to have

• Domain expertise in billing and payment processing systems, including Stripe.
• Experience with subscription management.
