Sr. Manager, Field Engineering - Telco (Data + AI)

Base salary: $172,500–$237,150 USD per year; total compensation may also include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Hire, train, grow, and manage a high-performing team of Solutions Architects supporting the Telecommunications segment.
• Drive customer success and deliver measurable business value through Databricks Data + AI solutions.
• Maintain a strong hiring pipeline and build effective relationships across the business.
• Partner with Sales leadership to achieve sales and consumption targets while supporting customer success.
• Keep the Solutions Architecture team current on advanced Data + AI technologies and comprehensive solution design.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building and leading technical pre-sales teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and enabling pre-sales professionals.
• 7+ years of experience in the Data + AI space with a technical product, such as data warehousing, big data, data science, machine learning, or AI.
• Deep technical understanding of the impact Data + AI can have across industry segments.
• Technical competence sufficient to earn the trust of Engineering talent and leadership.
• Experience acting as a trusted advisor to technical executives making strategic data infrastructure decisions.
• Ability to lead teams through technical qualification, proofs of concept, architecture discussions, and product demonstrations.
• Experience hiring pre-sales professionals, ramping them up, promoting them into larger roles, addressing performance issues, and implementing improvement plans.
• Ability to create a positive team culture and foster relationships across Field Engineering, Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
• Demonstrated architectural influence, including reviewing complex architectures and guiding teams and customers toward scalable solutions.
