Staff Accountant, Lease Accounting

Location: Atlanta Support Center, United States; onsite 4 days per week.

What you will do

• Support the end-to-end lease accounting process and maintain accurate accounting records and documentation across the real estate portfolio.
• Analyze legal documents and determine lease classification in accordance with US GAAP and ASC 842.
• Complete month-end close activities, including CoStar subledger work, general ledger entries, reconciliations, roll forwards, footnotes, year-end deliverables, and controls.
• Prepare internal and external financial reporting deliverables and support internal and external audits.
• Partner with FP&A, Real Estate, Lease Administration, Financial Systems, IT, Treasury, other departments, and outside auditors.
• Perform ad-hoc projects and technical research to support company decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Ability to understand and apply multiple US GAAP concepts to real-life situations.
• Effective communication with other departments and outside auditors across multiple platforms and in a timely manner.
• Ability to shift priorities across multiple brands, projects, and workstreams while meeting deadlines.
• Flexible, hands-on, self-starting approach with strong initiative and work ethic.
• Ability to acquire knowledge through guidance and team discussions.
• Team-oriented approach with appropriate urgency and ownership.
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.

Nice to have

• Certified Public Accountant track.
• 1–2 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Oracle ERP or other financial systems experience.
