Director, Electrical Engineering (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Own electrical engineering input and act as the design authority across AI factory projects in EMEA and AMER, from concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and energisation.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain electrical design standards, specifications, reference designs, and basis of design documents from utility interconnection through rack-level power distribution.
• Own power architecture covering redundancy topology, UPS, energy storage, standby and onsite generation, and distribution to the rack, aligning with rack, GPU, and network power requirements.
• Lead electrical design reviews, technical assurance, load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash studies, while resolving technical issues on live projects.
• Coordinate with mechanical, controls, structural, procurement, operations, CTO, and CPO stakeholders to optimise safety, reliability, cost, maintainability, delivery speed, and scalability.
• Direct external design partners, mentor engineers, report electrical risks and decisions, embed delivery lessons into standards, and build the electrical engineering team.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical or building services engineering is required; chartered or professional engineer status such as CEng or PE is preferred.
• Significant data centre or mission-critical electrical engineering experience, including senior technical leadership on large-scale programmes.
• Deep expertise in data centre power distribution, including medium- and low-hirify.globalge systems, UPS, standby generation, redundancy topologies, and protection.
• Experience developing and deploying electrical design standards, reference designs, or basis of design documents for a hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale data centre developer.
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering high-density power for AI and HPC workloads, including rack-level power distribution and understanding of GPU cluster power requirements and load behaviour.
• Familiarity with data centre electrical design codes and standards in Europe and North America, including IEC standards and the NEC.
• Strong commercial judgement when balancing capital expenditure, schedule, reliability, and operability.
• Confident communication skills for explaining complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
• Collaborative working style and the conviction to maintain electrical standards across partner teams.
