Electrical Engineering Lead (HV/MV)

What you will do

• Lead electrical engineering for EPC projects from early design through construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation.
• Act as the technical authority for HV and MV systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cable networks, and grid connections.
• Set design standards, review internal and external designs, and challenge EPC and consultant solutions for safety, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Lead and develop Electrical Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, SAPs, and Commissioning Engineers.
• Fulfil the NERS role, support audits, maintain accreditation records, and ensure work remains within the accredited scope.
• Manage technical interfaces with DNOs, TSOs, third-party ICPs, Development, Construction, and Asset Management teams.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of HV/MV electrical engineering experience in power, utilities, distribution, or renewable energy.
• Current NERS authorisation as Authorising Officer, Technical Advisor, or Qualified Supervisor.
• Experience leading engineers, SAPs, and commissioning teams, with an HV Senior Authorised Person background.
• Deep experience with substations, protection systems, cable networks, grid connection design, and utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, or grid infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of UK Grid Code, DNO/TSO requirements, G99/G100, and relevant electrical safety and compliance standards.
• Hands-on experience with grid studies, HV commissioning, testing, energisation, and technical review of complex electrical designs.

Nice to have

• Chartered status such as CEng or MIET.
• Experience with wind, gas-peaking, or data centre electrical systems.
• DNO or IDNO experience.
