Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js)

Location: Vilnius or Kaunas, Lithuania; office work is encouraged with the possibility of up to two remote days per week. A work-from-almost-anywhere policy is also mentioned.

Gross salary: €5,600–€7,200/month, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Build and own Node.js backends, APIs, and detection pipelines for email, SMS, and call scam protection.
• Design an automated email checker with background scanning, HTML and URL analysis, and safe credential handling.
• Maintain and evolve Cloudflare Workers for routing, authentication, and edge infrastructure.
• Own production quality, cost, latency, logging, metrics, alerts, and debugging for shipped services.
• Collaborate autonomously with Browser Extensions, Mobile, Design, Infrastructure, Data Science, and QA.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code that solves real problems.

Requirements

• Proven backend experience with Node.js, using Express or a similar framework.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and API design.
• Production experience with MongoDB or a similar database.
• Experience with Git and code review in GitHub or GitLab.
• Experience with Docker and understanding of how services run in production.
• Ability to operate shipped services, including logging, metrics, alerts, and debugging.
• Persistence when iterating on noisy or imperfect systems.
• Use of AI in the development workflow.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping Cloudflare Workers or another edge runtime.
• Experience integrating LLMs or classifiers into pipelines and evaluating cost, latency, privacy, and model quality.
• Knowledge of email and SMS protocols, including headers, SPF/DKIM, shorteners, and sender reputation.
• Experience with RabbitMQ, AWS or GCP, Google Web Risk, ClickHouse, or BigQuery.
