Senior Java Backend Developer

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the Vilnius office

Salary: €3,330–€6,660 gross monthly, plus yearly bonuses of approximately 10% of annual salary and a Booking Holdings RSU package.

What you will do

• Lead the design and delivery of direct supplier integrations from partner documentation through production rollout.
• Build and evolve integrations with SOAP/XML, REST and proprietary third-party APIs.
• Monitor live integrations, diagnose production issues and resolve gaps between supplier documentation and real-world behavior.
• Design reliable integrations across different protocols, data models, rate limits and failure modes while maintaining a consistent internal model.
• Work directly with suppliers and partner teams to investigate issues, agree on solutions and follow tickets through resolution.
• Write design documents, review architecture and code, define quality standards, and support junior and mid-level engineers through reviews, pairing and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience with Java and production backend systems.
• Strong experience with the Spring framework and SQL databases.
• Experience integrating third-party systems, onboarding partners and working directly with providers on troubleshooting and escalation.
• Experience leading projects end to end and supporting the growth of other engineers.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Comfort working in a hybrid model with at least three office days per week in Vilnius.

Nice to have

• Experience with airline direct-connect or NDC APIs.
• Knowledge of travel-domain concepts such as fares, offers, orders, ancillaries and ticketing.
• Experience with API certification or supplier testing programs.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and interest in using them to accelerate development.
