TL;DR
Senior Instrumentalist / Metrologist (Quantum Computing): Owning and scaling cryogenic DC and microwave measurement chains for quantum computing systems with an accent on instrumentation, metrology, signal integrity, and reproducible performance. Focus on quantifying noise impacts on qubits, calibrating measurement protocols, qualifying new installations, and building validation standards for scaled quantum hardware.

Location: Paris, France; on-site.

Salary: €66,000–€78,000 yearly base salary.

Company

hirify.global is scaling quantum computing technology from scientific proof-of-concept work toward reproducible, automated systems capable of supporting a quantum advantage demonstration.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end measurement chain and error budget for quantum gates, including cryogenic DC and microwave control and readout chains.
  • Manage signal budgets across cryogenic setups, covering noise temperature, insertion loss, crosstalk, dynamic range, photon number, TWPA calibration, and magnetic-field measurements.
  • Quantify noise impacts on qubit coherence and fidelities, calibrate pulses, and design and test measurement protocols with quantum physicists.
  • Build dashboards for qubit and setup performance, improve figures of merit, ensure homogeneous performance, and provide quantitative feedback to R&D teams.
  • Drive setup upgrades and installations from specification through commissioning, acceptance testing, supplier selection, qualification, and validation.
  • Document measurement practices, train physicists and engineers, and maintain common standards across setups.

Requirements

  • PhD in experimental physics or metrology and at least two additional years of experience as a post-doctoral researcher or in industry.
  • Proven experience building, characterizing, and optimizing complex experiments.
  • Strong experience with RF experiments, including pulse sequencing, phase noise, and IQ up/down conversion.
  • Strong experience with dilution refrigerators, including cryogenic wiring, thermalization, shielding, and fault diagnosis.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of statistical methods.
  • Rigorous and well organized, with high scientific standards and the ability to determine when results are sufficiently reliable for action.
  • Fluent Python skills for autonomous experiment control, data processing, and reusable tool development.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Relevant backgrounds may include superconducting or semiconductor qubits, quantum sensing or communications, atomic or optical metrology, astronomy, particle physics instrumentation, or similar fields.

Nice to have

  • Experience combining hands-on laboratory work with industrial challenges.
  • Interest in quantum computing, quantum technologies, and landmark scientific results.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative international team of more than 80–90 people spanning resonator fabrication, nanotube engineering, software, theory, nanofabrication, and quantum electronics.
  • Stock options for every employee through BSPCE/ESOP.
  • Conference travel, meal vouchers, mental health support, and an annual training and learning budget.
  • Sabbatical leave after two years with the company.
  • Office culture in two Paris locations with team lunches, offsite events, and Friday breakfasts.
  • Values include scientific excellence, integrity, curiosity, care, diversity, and commitment to meaningful quantum technology.
