Product Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, Cambridge or London, UK; flexible remote, hybrid, or in-person arrangements. Remote candidates must maintain at least four hours of daily overlap with both US East Coast and UK teams and should expect regular travel to factories in the US and UK.

Salary: £80,000–£130,000 in the UK; $150,000–$250,000 in the US, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own production software systems end-to-end, from factory-floor problem discovery through design, deployment, operations, and measurable impact.
• Build and maintain operational software connecting planning, materials, purchasing, personnel, and factory processes.
• Develop production planning tools and inventory and materials-flow systems.
• Improve factory operator workflows and integrate new automation equipment.
• Apply AI and LLMs to purchasing, production planning, machine diagnostics, and debugging.
• Build real-time systems coordinating manufacturing decisions across people, robots, inventory, and suppliers.

Requirements

• Strong PostgreSQL experience, including complex queries, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Solid data-modeling and systems-design judgment.
• Hands-on systems integration experience, stitching together APIs, tools, and workflows that operate reliably in production.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals and the ability to ship production systems quickly and reliably.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to factories in the US and UK and spend time on the factory floor partnering with operators and engineers.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with manufacturing, logistics, ERP/MRP, or supply-chain systems.
• Experience building internal tools or operational software.
• Experience keeping mission-critical operational systems fast and reliable.
• Comfort collaborating closely with internal teams on a regular basis.
