Legal Counsel - Derivatives (Crypto)

Location: Hybrid in London, United Kingdom; fully remote candidates are not accepted. Significant flexibility is available for working from home and working hours.

What you will do

• Draft and negotiate documentation for derivatives offerings, including ISDA Master Agreements, credit support documents, trade confirmations, and financial infrastructure agreements.
• Handle tri-party custody and collateral, prime brokerage, clearing, and related documentation.
• Negotiate directly with counterparties and their legal counsel.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research for trading activities across products and jurisdictions, working with external advisers when required.
• Provide practical, commercially focused advice and support projects beyond OTC derivatives according to professional interests and business needs.
• Coordinate stakeholder input, make decisions, and drive contracts and projects to completion.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in England and Wales, preferably with approximately 3–5 years of post-qualification experience as a derivatives lawyer. Particularly strong candidates with a different level of experience or an equivalent common-law qualification may also be considered.
• Training at a Magic Circle firm, leading US law firm, or other leading international firm with a recognised derivatives practice is strongly preferred. In-house experience at a bank, broker-dealer, hedge fund, or trading firm is also considered.
• Experience negotiating ISDA Master Agreements and related credit support documents governed by both English and New York law.
• Experience documenting OTC derivatives, including swaps, options, and forwards, across a range of underlying asset classes.
• Familiarity with securities lending and repurchase master trading documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-performing environment and under tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with prime brokerage, custody, clearing, and other financial infrastructure documentation.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks and their application to OTC derivatives in traditional financial markets across various jurisdictions.
