Test & Validation EV Engineer

Location: Peterborough, UK; onsite five days a week. Travel to CAT-owned and third-party test and development facilities, including some overseas travel, is required.

Salary: £49,500+ depending on experience.

The Industrial Power Systems Division develops engines and green energy solutions for applications including marine, petroleum, industrial, electric generation, and locomotive use.

What you will do

• Manage multiple electric vehicle installation and machine integration projects for off-highway machines.
• Own mechanical and electrical machine integration, commissioning, and testing.
• Operate off-highway vehicles including hydraulic excavators, back-hoe loaders, telehandlers, and track-type tractors when required.
• Diagnose and fix faults on machines and subsystems.
• Work from electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering drawings and produce electrical looms to interface components with machines.
• Work with Cat and third-party customers to develop and validate reliable products against customer requirements.

Requirements

• Engineering degree or relevant experience with increasing responsibility.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate with team members, other business units, customers, and suppliers.
• High-level mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic aptitude, with good working knowledge of electrical subsystems and machines.
• Good working knowledge of instrumentation and its application.
• Excellent PC skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office and in-house software to analyse data and produce technical reports.
• Knowledge of project management strategies and the ability to plan, organise, monitor, and control projects while using technical and administrative resources effectively.
• A fully flexible approach to the role and responsibilities.
• Willingness to undertake required job-related training and learning.
• Ability to follow health and safety policies and safe working practices.
