Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical)

Location: Lisburn, United Kingdom; onsite role in the Mechatronics department.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical products for the energy industry.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, technical specifications, test plans, and Bills of Materials.
• Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly techniques to deliver cost-effective and efficient designs.
• Support product lifecycle management, including engineering change quality checks, user-role administration, and CAD integration.
• Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, operations, and other departments, contributing to design reviews and product testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvements in engineering quality and performance.

Requirements

• Minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a mechanical engineering environment focused on product design or development.
• Experience with Solid Edge or similar CAD packages.
• Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles and the ability to design solutions within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Strong problem-solving, task-management, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with prototype testing, verification, and failure analysis.
• Hands-on experience with part manufacture and prototype assembly.
