Mechanical Design Engineer (Mechatronics)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical products for the Energy Utilities and Renewables industries.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, technical specifications, test plans, and Bills of Materials.
• Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles to deliver cost-effective and efficient products.
• Manage quality checks for engineering changes, user roles, and CAD integration within the Product Lifecycle Management system.
• Collaborate with engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and other departments to identify suppliers and deliver products to specification.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering quality.

Requirements

• At least a 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a mechanical engineering environment focused on product design or development.
• Experience with Solid Edge or similar CAD packages.
• Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles and the ability to design solutions within budget and schedule constraints.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with prototype testing, verification, and failure analysis.
• Hands-on experience with part manufacture and prototype assembly.
