Staff Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end Imunify360 architecture across agents, servers, cloud backends, data flows, and service contracts.
• Drive architecture decisions through ADRs and RFCs, maintain the technical debt and risk register, and lead cross-squad technical alignment.
• Solve complex issues involving agent CPU, memory and I/O budgets, detection quality, heterogeneous fleet upgrades, backend scale, and Python-to-Go/Rust migrations.
• Set standards for design reviews, code review, testing, observability, secure SDLC, and AI-augmented development.
• Lead or co-lead unclear or cross-squad SEV1/SEV2 incidents and ensure blameless post-mortems and follow-up actions are completed.
• Mentor senior engineers and squad leads, participate in hiring loops, and advise product and sales on feasibility and estimates.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating production software, including 3+ years working at Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead scope across several teams.
• Strong production experience with Python and at least one of Go or Rust.
• Deep Linux internals knowledge, including processes, filesystems, networking, kernel interfaces such as inotify/fanotify or eBPF, RPM/DEB packaging, and systemd.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale, including asynchronous backends, queues, databases, caching, and failure modes.
• Experience owning systems running on customer machines, such as agents, daemons, or on-premises software, with knowledge of upgrade safety, backward compatibility, and resource budgets.
• Security mindset covering threat modeling, secure coding, and untrusted files, HTTP traffic, and user content.
• Ability to write clear, concise technical documents and drive decisions asynchronously in remote teams across time zones.
• Daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude, or MCP-based tooling, with the ability to critically evaluate their output.

Nice to have

• Experience with server security, including antivirus or malware detection, WAF, IDS/IPS, rootkit detection, and CVE or patch management.
• Experience with WordPress and Node.js web application hosting at scale.
• Production machine learning for classification or detection, including evaluation and safe model rollout.
• Observability at scale with Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, ClickHouse, or similar tools.
• CI/CD ownership involving GitLab CI, Jenkins, or multi-distribution packaging build systems.
• Open-source contributions in security or systems tooling.
