Sr. AWS Cloud - Cyber Range Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Salary: $165,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Operate, troubleshoot, optimize, and assume primary engineering responsibility for an AWS-hosted cybersecurity training and virtual lab environment.
• Manage AWS compute, networking, storage, identity and access management, monitoring, security services, and platform availability.
• Create, harden, test, and deploy Amazon Machine Images and virtual lab components.
• Develop cybersecurity lab environments and automate provisioning, reset, configuration, and teardown of virtual machines and student labs.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration management while improving scalability, resilience, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
• Maintain the security posture, remediate vulnerabilities and POA&M findings, support ATO requirements, and document technical controls and operational procedures.

Requirements

• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Approximately 8+ years of infrastructure, cloud, systems, or platform engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on AWS engineering or operations.
• Production AWS experience with EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, EBS, security groups, load balancing, and related services.
• Experience with AMIs, Windows and Linux administration, virtualized environments, scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
• Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or equivalent Infrastructure as Code, plus cloud security, vulnerability management, monitoring, patching, and regulated environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with cyber ranges, cybersecurity training environments, virtual labs, sandboxes, simulation environments, or technical learning platforms.
• Experience with LMS-integrated environments such as Moodle, automated cloud provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and multiple development and production boundaries.
• Experience with federal ATO/RMF processes, security controls, POA&Ms, continuous monitoring, CISA requirements, and Known Exploited Vulnerabilities.
• AWS, Security+, CISSP, or equivalent cybersecurity certifications.
