Project Engineer (Defense Tech)

Location: Brisbane, Australia. Many roles require Australian citizenship and may require an Australian Defence Security Clearance and/or assessment to work with ITAR information.

What you will do

• Manage engineering work across minor projects using project governance and management tools.
• Oversee delivery of project engineering requirements according to contracts, Statements of Work, project documentation, governance requirements, and company policies.
• Plan engineering effort, monitor progress, resolve issues, initiate corrective actions, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
• Coordinate technical interactions with customers and manage cost, schedule, and technical aspects of engineering projects.
• Review project status and budgets, manage schedules, prepare status reports, and manage project-level risks.
• Estimate resource and material needs and coordinate engineering, technical, resource management, and supply chain teams to secure required reviews, approvals, materials, and subcontracts.

Requirements

• Engineering Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS).
• Experience applying project engineering and program execution best practices and managing multi-discipline projects.
• Experience with hardware/software integration programs.
• Experience managing projects with budgets of up to $30M.
• Experience with Technical Supplier Management and Risk and Opportunity Management.
• Experience managing Agile software development programs, including use of Confluence.
• Australian citizenship may be required; successful candidates may need to obtain and hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance and/or be assessed to work with ITAR information.
