Taxonomist, Supply

Location: Berlin, Germany. Hybrid work with two recommended office days per week. Remote work is permitted for up to 90 days per year in the EU, with limited global workation allowances.

Annual gross salary: €75,200–€101,800.

What you will do

• Design, revise, and maintain buyer- and seller-facing product taxonomies and navigation across multiple product verticals.
• Design and implement ontologies, metadata structures, and data models supporting member-facing content.
• Research product attributes that help buyers refine searches and sellers describe their items.
• Evaluate taxonomy and metadata changes with user researchers and data analysts.
• Document standards, workflows, governance processes, and data models.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, data science, legal, policy, communications, localisation, and customer support teams.

Requirements

• Experience developing taxonomies and/or ontologies for front-end and back-end systems.
• Experience evaluating and implementing taxonomies for search, content management, metadata, digital asset management, or product classification systems.
• Experience building taxonomies for machine learning classification systems.
• Strong knowledge of taxonomy and ontology design principles and information architecture.
• Basic SQL and Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-driven solutions and eCommerce environments.
• Fluency in French, German, Spanish, Dutch, or Italian.
• Experience with ontology or knowledge graph development, including RDF or OWL.
