Tech Lead Manager, Cards (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA. The in-office policy requires four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available depending on eligibility and location.

Base salary: $199,000–$275,000 USD per year, excluding potential bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage and develop a squad of 4–5 engineers through hiring, one-on-ones, coaching, career development, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery, including sprint planning, commitments, service-level agreements, operational health, and incident response.
• Write and ship production code alongside the team while maintaining the squad’s technical direction, architecture, and quality standards.
• Use AI coding agents and tooling to improve individual and team delivery, establishing sustainable engineering practices.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics on prioritization, quarterly planning, technical dependencies, and capacity needs.
• Identify technical debt, support sustainable engineering, contribute to broader engineering initiatives, and build growth paths for engineers.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of people management experience.
• Current hands-on coding ability and a desire to continue writing production code.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to deliver measurable results and support team adoption.
• Experience coaching engineers on project execution, skill development, and career progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Analytics.
• Experience with Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS data or compute services, and service-oriented architectures.
