Software Engineer 1 - Cloud Infrastructure

Location: Remote - USA

Base salary: $122,400–$176,000 USD per year; additional bonus or incentive compensation, equity, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, scale, monitor, and maintain secure, reliable, and cost-efficient infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Develop and operate infrastructure as code for repeatable, auditable, and scalable provisioning.
• Collaborate with product and application engineering teams to deliver developer-friendly infrastructure abstractions.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and agile team delivery.
• Join the on-call rotation, respond to incidents, identify systemic gaps, and improve long-term reliability.
• Reduce technical debt and operational toil by addressing root causes, automating repetitive work, and using AI-assisted engineering tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 1–2 years of experience engineering cloud infrastructure solutions for production microservice-based systems, with attention to performance, reliability, security, and cost.
• At least 1 year of experience with Python.
• 6 months–1 year of experience with at least two of Terraform, AWS or an equivalent public cloud provider, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with source control, testing, deployment, and mature software development practices.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and operating production-grade systems.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex in daily engineering work, including validating, simplifying, or rejecting unsuitable generated output.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote-first environment with autonomy, collaboration, and a bias toward action.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bash, Golang, and Terragrunt.
• Experience building large-scale infrastructure-as-code abstractions.
• AWS certifications.
