Lead AI/ML Engineer

Location: United States; remote-first with regular in-person team-building, design sprint, and customer opportunities

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and productionize machine learning and agentic AI functionality.
• Embed AI capabilities into the product in partnership with product engineering squads.
• Shape AI/ML architecture, the evolving technology stack, and production engineering practices.
• Own evaluation sets, ground truth, and automated evaluation systems for AI projects.
• Build tooling for reliable production deployment, with attention to latency, cost, error handling, safety, and responsible AI.
• Guide engineers on AI/ML practices and communicate with technical, non-technical, and customer-facing stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or a related quantitative or engineering field.
• Hands-on experience delivering production ML or AI systems, including ML models or agentic functionality.
• Strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python.
• Experience building evaluation sets or ground truth for ML or LLM-based systems and using MLOps practices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, data warehousing such as Snowflake, version control, and CI/CD.
• Ability to lead technical work with limited oversight and influence technical direction without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Experience embedding LLM-based or agentic features into a production product.
• Experience with dbt, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience mentoring engineers or serving as a technical go-to person.
• Knowledge of procurement or supply chain data models.
• Enterprise software or startup experience.
