Senior Data Scientist, Student Success

Location: College Station, Texas; position eligible for remote work. Restricted to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.

What you will do

• Administer the adoption and development of the Student Success Intelligence Platform.
• Analyze student success across admissions, enrollment, retention, persistence, re-enrollment, transfer, graduation, credential completion, and post-graduation outcomes.
• Develop comprehensive student success measures, dashboards, scorecards, benchmarking studies, and predictive analyses.
• Coordinate system-level analyses and reporting for selected state and federal student-success requirements.
• Translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for leadership and decision-makers.
• Collaborate with institutional research and student success professionals across the A&M System.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, economics, higher education administration, public policy, computer science, information systems, mathematics, operations research, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten years of experience conducting advanced quantitative analysis, developing performance metrics, and translating findings into strategic recommendations.
• Experience in student success analytics, institutional research, higher education data analysis, program evaluation, or a related field.
• Proficiency with analytical, statistical, and data visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable technologies.
• Ability to manage and analyze large, complex datasets while ensuring data quality, integrity, and appropriate use.
• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency is required.

Nice to have

• Doctorate or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, economics, public policy, computer science, mathematics, or operations research.
• Seven years of experience in student success analytics, institutional research, higher education data analysis, program evaluation, or a related field.
• Experience presenting advanced analytics and recommendations to executive leadership, governing boards, policymakers, or other senior decision-makers.
