Senior Data Scientist, Research (Research Analytics)

Location: College Station, Texas; remote work is eligible.

What you will do

• Administer the adoption and development of the Research Intelligence Platform.
• Develop and document research measures, indicators, dashboards, scorecards, and benchmarking studies.
• Analyze research expenditures, proposals, awards, publications, commercialization, collaborations, and other outcomes.
• Identify research strengths, expertise, infrastructure, and collaboration opportunities across system members.
• Report research activity and outcomes to the Board and executive leadership.
• Coordinate research data submissions and reporting schedules with research administration and institutional research professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, economics, higher education administration, public policy, computer science, information systems, mathematics, operations research, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least ten years of experience conducting advanced quantitative analysis, developing performance metrics, and translating findings into strategic recommendations.
• Experience in research analytics, institutional research, research administration, data science, program evaluation, or a related analytical field.
• Proficiency with analytical, statistical, and data visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable technologies.
• Ability to integrate and analyze large, complex datasets, ensure data quality, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The role is security-sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation and credential verification.

Nice to have

• Doctorate or master's degree in a quantitative or related field.
• Seven years of experience in research analytics, institutional research, research administration, data science, program evaluation, or a related field.
• Experience presenting advanced analytics and recommendations to executive leaders, governing boards, policymakers, or other senior decision-makers.
