Upstream Process Development Associate I/II (Biotechnology)

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and analyze mammalian cell culture and bioreactor processes from shake flasks through 200 L single-use bioreactors.
• Lead and monitor process development experiments, including inoculation, sampling, feeding, data entry, and process calculations.
• Calculate growth rate, specific productivity, and agitation and gassing parameters for scale-up and scale-down.
• Prepare data plots, presentations, batch records, technical reports, and project plans using Microsoft Office.
• Support statistical analysis with Design-Expert, JMP, and related tools.
• Participate in process development teams, coach junior colleagues, interact with clients, and support technology transfer to manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 1–3+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of mammalian cell culture.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting strict client deadlines.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays, typically 2–4 weekend days per month, to support cell culture processes.

Nice to have

• Experience in medium development.
• Experience with Design-Expert, JMP, or similar statistical software.
