Senior Applications Scientist (Bioprocessing)

Location: On-site in Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States

Annual salary: $120,000–$140,000, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design, execute, and interpret applications studies from bench-scale to manufacturing-scale bioreactor systems.
• Work with mammalian cell culture, upstream processes, perfusion operations, and cell-retention technologies.
• Provide scientific leadership for experimental design, technical strategy, data interpretation, and next-step recommendations.
• Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, Commercial, Field Applications, and customers to translate challenges into experimental programs and product priorities.
• Create technical reports, application notes, presentations, and scientific communications.
• Serve as a technical resource for commercial teams, field specialists, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Multiple years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, upstream process development, bioprocess engineering, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with bioreactor operation and troubleshooting in laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience designing experiments, analyzing scientific data, and communicating findings through technical documentation.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting technical discussions with customers or external stakeholders.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 40 lb and manipulate equipment used in large-scale cell culture.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
• Experience developing, operating, optimizing, or troubleshooting perfusion cell culture and cell-retention technologies.
• Experience presenting technical content to customers, industry groups, conferences, workshops, or technical training audiences.
