Hardware Configuration & Change Management Specialist (Fusion Energy)

Location: San Leandro, California, United States. Other location: Los Lunas. This onsite role may involve access to technology subject to U.S. export-control laws and requires candidates classified as U.S. Persons.

Base salary: $180,000–$230,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Use Windchill PLM as the source of truth for part numbers, CAD data, BOMs, and released documentation.
• Manage ECR, ECO, and deviation workflows through review, approval, and release.
• Establish configuration baselines and keep as-designed, as-built, and as-maintained records synchronized.
• Partner with design engineers to structure BOMs, part numbering schemes, and CAD/PLM workflows.
• Coordinate change-impact assessments, effectivity dates, and build-schedule protection with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
• Audit configuration data, train engineers and technicians, and support internal and customer audits with traceable records.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hardware configuration management or engineering change management experience in a hardware-intensive environment.
• Hands-on experience with PTC Windchill workflows, BOM management, change objects, and lifecycle states.
• Strong understanding of ECR, ECO, ECN, and configuration management principles for complex, multi-revision hardware.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and BOMs to assess proposed changes.
• Proactive, self-directed approach and ability to work through ambiguity on a first-of-a-kind research project.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Configuration management experience in a highly regulated, first-of-a-kind, or national laboratory environment.
• ASQ CQE, CMPIC, or similar configuration/change management certification.
