Staff Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Remote in Washington, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Salary: $171,191–$285,319 USD annual base pay.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, implementation, and delivery of major systems spanning multiple teams.
• Design, code, test, and review reliable distributed systems, web services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Own code quality, system testing, functional testing, integration, and interfaces between systems.
• Make technical decisions for ambiguous, complex problems and contribute to company-wide technical objectives.
• Collaborate with UX and product teams to build customer-focused digital experiences.
• Mentor engineers, guide technical work, and serve as a technical authority across groups.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience building and operating scalable, customer-facing systems.
• Technical leadership experience in architecture, complex trade-offs, and cross-team engineering decisions.
• Experience with reliable, scalable distributed systems, web services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms and SaaS products through APIs, events, and webhooks.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, simplify complex problems, and deliver high-quality solutions in fast-paced environments.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with ecommerce or marketplace systems, including catalogs, checkout, payments, or order management.
• Experience building high-performance customer experiences, including frontend performance optimization.
