Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Sync)

Location: Remote within the United States; up to 10% travel as needed. Not currently hiring candidates residing in Delaware, Hawaii, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico, or other US territories.

Salary: $150,000–$165,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus target.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, highly available software solutions for the Cloud Sync platform.
• Modernize legacy synchronization services and advance cloud-first architecture, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Define cross-team technical strategies, architectural standards, design documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pair programming, and engineering guilds.
• Investigate complex technical challenges, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive continuous improvement across multiple teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale systems.
• Expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, client-server architecture, object-oriented design, and engineering best practices.
• Experience creating technical designs, architectural documentation, and scalable solutions while influencing decisions across teams.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, software quality initiatives, and cross-team alignment.
• Hands-on experience with C#, C++, or Java; gRPC, API development and integration, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud-based applications, service-oriented architectures, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Knowledge of LLMs, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, agentic frameworks, model evaluation, monitoring, or AI-assisted developer tooling.
