Junior Support Engineer (Data Centre)

Location: Riverside, California, United States; on-site at the Riverside Data Centre

Salary: $40,000–$60,000 gross per year, USD

What you will do

• Install, rack, cable, decommission, and maintain servers, switches, and other data centre equipment.
• Provide smart-hands and on-site support for IT teams and portfolio companies, including power cycling, connection checks, cable reseating, and basic component replacement.
• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues involving cabling, ports, connections, and device status, escalating complex issues to engineers.
• Manage laptops and end-user devices, including wiping, configuring, preparing, shipping, and securely handling returned equipment.
• Track IT assets and inventory entering and leaving the data centre.
• Follow documented processes and maintain accurate records of completed work.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, IP addresses, switches, network ports, and Ethernet connectivity.
• Confidence working with laptops, desktops, and other IT equipment.
• Interest in learning about servers, networking, and data centre infrastructure.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and documented processes carefully.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to ask questions and escalate issues beyond current knowledge or experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in IT help desk, service desk, desktop support, hardware installation, or basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience with server or network rack installation, laptop imaging, device management, or IT asset management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, or Jira.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or a similar entry-level IT certification.
