Engineering Manager, Ecosystems

Location: Redwood City, United States; hybrid work with engineering, product, design, and marketing teams in the office three days a week.

Salary: $170,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, manage, and grow a team of backend and integration engineers.
• Set priorities between PACS integration delivery and new access control product development.
• Own the PACS integration roadmap, production monitoring, on-call operations, partner escalations, and regression testing.
• Define architecture and milestones for access control capabilities spanning devices, credentials, cloud services, and APIs.
• Stay hands-on through design reviews, difficult debugging, architecture decisions, and coding.
• Build and manage technical relationships with PACS and hardware partners, including joint roadmaps, API access, SDK support, test hardware, and escalations.

Requirements

• Deep experience with physical access control systems, either in software, cloud access control, systems integration, or access control hardware.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers or leading a team with people responsibilities.
• Experience shipping and operating third-party integrations and building products from an early, ambiguous starting point.
• Strong backend and distributed systems judgment for systems spanning customer-site hardware and the cloud.
• Experience owning technical relationships with external partners and communicating with engineers, product leaders, partner executives, and customers.
• Ability to work from the Redwood City office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with PACS, lock, or credential platforms such as LenelS2, C-CURE 9000, Genetec, or Brivo.
• Experience building or leading a cloud-managed access control product involving controllers, credentials, and mobile access.
• Knowledge of OSDP, Wiegand, BLE, and NFC mobile credentials.
• IoT platform experience with device provisioning, fleet management, firmware updates, and MQTT.
• Familiarity with enterprise security buyers and compliance expectations such as SOC 2, audit trails, and role-based access.
