Senior Electrical Engineer (Building Systems)

Location: Plymouth, Michigan, United States (Hybrid); travel up to 15%

What you will do

• Lead electrical engineering design for complex building projects, including design criteria, calculations, equipment selection, specifications, and construction documents.
• Design and coordinate power distribution, lighting, life safety, fire alarm, structured cabling, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems.
• Ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes, client requirements, technical standards, and quality expectations.
• Resolve technical and constructability challenges while managing project deliverables, priorities, schedules, budgets, and resources.
• Support construction through submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, punch lists, technical studies, and condition assessments.
• Coordinate with project managers, technical leaders, other disciplines, clients, and external partners while mentoring junior engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience designing power distribution systems, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, standby power, load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, and arc-flash analysis.
• Experience with lighting systems, lighting controls, luminaire selection, architecturally integrated lighting, and auxiliary systems.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, multidisciplinary coordination, and project teamwork skills.
