Corp Counsel III (Privacy, Digital Risk, and Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote; travel 1–20% within the United States. An active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is required.

Salary: $141,000–$234,000 per year

What you will do

• Advise on privacy, cybersecurity, digital laws, regulations, and industry frameworks, including U.S. state privacy laws, HIPAA, HITECH, PCI DSS, and NIST.
• Provide legal guidance on websites, applications, tracking technologies, digital accessibility, digital disclosures, and employee data access.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, data subject rights reviews, supplier privacy reviews, vendor cybersecurity assessments, and AI impact assessments.
• Support privacy and cybersecurity incident investigations, mitigation, response, and regulatory reporting.
• Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, business associate agreements, cybersecurity addenda, incident notification terms, and data transfer provisions.
• Develop and improve privacy, cybersecurity, digital governance programs, policies, procedures, templates, and compliance workflows.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of applicable experience.
• Juris Doctorate.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with eligibility to serve as in-house counsel as required.
• Substantive knowledge of U.S. privacy and data protection laws, including HIPAA, HITECH, state privacy laws, health data laws, and breach notification requirements.
• Experience interpreting cybersecurity regulations and frameworks such as FISMA, NIST, and PCI DSS.
• Experience with privacy and cybersecurity assessments, incident response, governance programs, and specialized contract negotiations.

Nice to have

• Privacy or AI governance certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT.
• Experience with OneTrust, Transcend, or similar privacy and AI governance platforms.
• Experience operationalizing privacy, AI, and digital risk programs.
