Solution Engineer (IoT/Retail Tech)

Location: Hybrid, based in Tokyo, Japan, with regular collaboration in the Tokyo office and occasional travel within Japan

What you will do

• Conduct solution demonstrations, maintain Customer Experience Center demonstrations, and support customer presentations, RFPs, tradeshows, and industry events.
• Own technical relationships with delivery partners, supporting onboarding, training, and partner enablement.
• Understand customer objectives and technical environments, then translate requirements into practical solution designs.
• Coordinate technical delivery, validate site surveys and deployment plans, and support partner-led installations.
• Perform technical validation, fixture testing, UAT, and solution sign-off while tracking project actions and dependencies.
• Create technical documentation and localize materials for the Japan market while collaborating with global Product and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in solution engineering, technical consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Experience or interest in SaaS, IoT, retail technology, or related fields.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Native or fluent Japanese and business-level English required.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders across functions, technical backgrounds, and seniority levels.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment based in Tokyo, with occasional travel within Japan.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of REST APIs, CSV/JSON specifications, basic networking, and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with installations, fixture testing, hardware validation, or retail infrastructure.
• Exposure to ESLs, digital signage, computer vision, data analytics, or IoT devices.
• Experience with enterprise customers and the ability to read hardware drawings, fixture layouts, and installation guides.
• Comfort working in test labs, back-of-house areas, and active retail environments.
