Chief Architect, Infrastructure & Enterprise Architecture

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model with in-office attendance required Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Remote placement is not considered. Local Pacific Time hours are required, with flexibility across time zones when necessary. Relocation is offered based on job level.

Target base salary: $260,000–$290,000 annually, plus potential equity awards and annual bonus.

What you will do

• Define and maintain the enterprise target-state architecture, technology standards, governance processes, and reference architectures.
• Lead architecture reviews and resolve complex cross-domain design decisions in partnership with Engineering, Security, Risk, and Regulatory Relations.
• Provide hands-on leadership for cloud topology, networking, identity, compute platforms, containers, resilience, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and cost architecture.
• Lead architecture for major platform initiatives, including the data platform migration to Databricks.
• Lead a federated Architecture Guild through design forums, peer reviews, shared standards, and architectural alignment.
• Manage, coach, and develop the Shared Architecture team across data architecture, data modeling, and integration architecture.

Requirements

• 13+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related technology roles, including 5+ years in a principal, chief, or head-of-architecture position.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on expertise in public cloud environments, preferably AWS, networking, identity, containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Experience leading architects across organizational boundaries and managing senior technical individual contributors.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, integration patterns, and modern data platforms.
• Experience delivering technology in regulated financial services, including familiarity with OCC, FFIEC, BSA/AML, or equivalent regulatory expectations.

• Experience leading architecture in a federated, guild, or chapter operating model.
• Experience developing architecture patterns for AI-native workloads and applying AI within enterprise architecture.
• Experience defining architecture standards that support regulatory examinations.
• Experience across established institutions and high-velocity product engineering environments.
