Lead Technical Solutions Architect (Financial Services)

Location: Remote, home based in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. Remote status and role location may change; relocation is not provided.

Salary: $132,700–$175,000 per year, with potential incentive and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Define architecture roadmaps, target-state architectures, technology strategies, and implementation plans across business domains.
• Guide architecture decisions spanning products, platforms, integrations, data domains, and shared services.
• Establish architecture standards, reference architectures, reusable design patterns, decision frameworks, and architecture decision records.
• Lead architecture reviews and governance for strategic initiatives, modernization, platform evolution, technical debt reduction, and resiliency planning.
• Identify architectural risks and ensure solutions address security, compliance, privacy, scalability, recoverability, observability, and operational readiness.
• Mentor architects and technical leaders while advising senior business and technology stakeholders on investments, tradeoffs, and long-term strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or related technical leadership.
• Experience leading architecture across large-scale, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple systems, teams, and business domains.
• Deep knowledge of application architecture, integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, data architecture, and cloud-native design.
• Experience establishing architecture governance, standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong security, compliance, resiliency, operational readiness, communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and influence skills.

Nice to have

• Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
• Experience influencing enterprise technology strategy and multi-year roadmaps.
• Experience mentoring architects and leading architecture communities of practice.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks, architecture repositories, capability-based planning, and relevant cloud, architecture, security, or integration certifications.
