Senior Legal Counsel (Pharmaceutical)

Location: Menlo Park, CA; Miami, FL; Princeton, NJ; or Remote within the United States

Salary: $203,000–$242,563 USD annually, plus potential bonus, stock, benefits, and other variable compensation.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate clinical trial collaboration agreements and related supply, delivery, quality, and clinical services agreements.
• Handle clinical trial agreements, investigator-sponsored studies, sponsored research agreements, CRO agreements, and other commercial and operational contracts.
• Partner with business development, clinical development, clinical operations, medical affairs, finance, research and development, and other internal functions.
• Identify contractual risks, propose practical alternatives, and escalate matters to the Chief Legal Officer or General Counsel when appropriate.
• Supervise attorneys and paralegals, prepare contract templates, provide contracting training, and report contract status to internal stakeholders.
• Support acquisition and asset-transaction due diligence and handle additional legal assignments.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate and admission to a US state bar in good standing are required.
• At least 7 years of major law firm and/or in-house experience with a pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare company.
• Substantial experience serving as lead attorney for drafting and negotiating Clinical Trial Collaboration Agreements.
• Experience drafting and negotiating US and ex-US clinical trial agreements for a pharmaceutical company.
• Knowledge of clinical trial, pharmaceutical research, development, commercial contract, data privacy, and GDPR requirements.
• Strong legal drafting, analysis, communication, organizational, negotiation, and risk-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with acquisition or divestiture due diligence.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
