Principal/Lead Analytics Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid work through hirify.global Flex, with occasional in-person attendance required. Primary residence must be in or near an approved metropolitan area in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

Salary: $149,000–$253,500 in the United States, depending on geographic market; $178,000–$227,000 CAD in Canada.

What you will do

• Shape technical foundations, modeling standards, and development practices for Analytics Engineering.
• Build governed canonical data models, shared metrics, semantic layers, and reusable production-quality data products.
• Design systems for data quality, observability, documentation, governance, access control, privacy, lineage, and evaluation.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Technology, Content, and business teams to scale analytics and AI-driven intelligence.
• Lead cross-functional data initiatives from strategy through production adoption and measurable business impact.
• Communicate architectural tradeoffs and technical decisions to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence engineering, or a related discipline.
• Deep experience building governed canonical data models and semantic layers for self-serve analytics.
• Experience designing reliable, explainable, secure, and scalable data and AI product foundations.
• Advanced SQL and production experience with modern data platforms such as AWS, Databricks, Airbyte, Fivetran, or Looker.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, strategic judgment, and ability to communicate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior executives.
• Primary residence must be in or near an approved US, Canadian, or Mexican metropolitan area.

Nice to have

• Advanced Python.
• Experience with data cleanup, role-based access controls, and data retention policies.
• Experience leading on-call rotations, incident response, and reliability improvements.
