Associate Director, Enterprise Architecture, Global Commercial & Medical IT (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, United States

Base salary: $152,000–$209,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and govern enterprise architecture standards for Global Commercial and Medical IT.
• Lead architecture for strategic initiatives, including product launches, international expansion, acquisitions, omnichannel engagement, and medical communications.
• Develop target-state architectures, integration strategies, multi-year roadmaps, and business capability plans.
• Design secure, scalable application integration patterns using APIs and event-driven architecture.
• Rationalize the application portfolio by reducing duplication, fragmentation, integration issues, and total cost of ownership.
• Evaluate cloud, automation, AI/ML, and generative AI capabilities while mentoring architects and representing GCM in enterprise architecture forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible IT experience, including 5+ years in architecture leadership roles.
• Enterprise architecture experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies, with ownership of Commercial or Medical platforms such as Veeva, Salesforce, PromoMats, or MedComms.
• Strong understanding of Commercial and Medical capabilities, regulatory considerations, value streams, and global operating models.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architecture, and sufficient data architecture to design application connectivity.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and influencing skills across business and global IT teams.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MS or MBA.
• TOGAF, ArchiMate, or equivalent architecture framework experience.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, customer and master data, and enterprise integration tools.
• Experience integrating AI/ML, generative AI, automation, or cloud capabilities in regulated environments.
• Experience with Agile or SAFe delivery environments.
