Defense Enterprise Chief Architect (AI)

Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States; work in the Fairfax office

Salary: $230,000–$350,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and execute technology strategy for a Defense Enterprise account supporting Department of Defense Fourth Estate agencies and Combatant Commands.
• Lead solution architecture, technical volumes, demonstrations, staffing and estimation inputs, transition strategies, and oral presentations for strategic federal captures.
• Translate mission challenges into secure, scalable, compliant, and executable solutions across cloud modernization, Data and AI, autonomy, mission partner environments, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT.
• Review strategic programs for architecture, security, performance, scalability, technical debt, modernization opportunities, and delivery risk.
• Establish reusable reference architectures, engineering standards, technical reviews, and design assurance practices.
• Build relationships with government leaders, partners, technology providers, and matrixed engineering organizations while mentoring architects, engineers, data scientists, and AI specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, data science, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience leading complex technology solutions in the federal or national security market, including experience with Department of Defense customers.
• Proven experience as a CTO, chief architect, chief engineer, technical director, or senior sales engineer, with success shaping large federal captures.
• Broad expertise across cloud, Data and AI, autonomy, mission partner environments, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT.
• Experience developing architectures spanning applications, platforms, infrastructure, data, identity, cybersecurity, integration, and operations.
• Active security clearance at the appropriate level, with eligibility to obtain additional accesses. Ability to travel as required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or professional certifications in a technical, engineering, business, cloud, architecture, cybersecurity, data, AI, or program leadership discipline.
• Experience with classified, multi-enclave, coalition, tactical, edge, or disconnected environments.
• Experience with cloud-native engineering, DevSecOps, platform engineering, and hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
• Experience with AI-enabled mission systems, autonomous systems, human-machine teaming, or mission autonomy.
• Familiarity with DoD acquisition pathways, rapid capability development, and software acquisition practices.
