Electrical Engineer (Building Systems)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; on-site. Travel up to 20%, including local and U.S. project sites.

Salary: $95,000–$115,000 per year

What you will do

• Design electrical systems for buildings from conceptual design through completion with limited oversight.
• Develop power distribution, service entrance, motor and equipment feeder, UPS, DC power, and standby generator designs.
• Design security and fire alarm systems and perform electrical commissioning.
• Conduct power studies using SKM Power Tools and Easypower.
• Visit project sites to document existing conditions and review new work.
• Coordinate complex designs and construction drawings with electrical engineers, designers, BIM specialists, CAD technicians, and other disciplines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
• Five or more years of experience designing electrical systems for different facility types.
• Ability to work independently on smaller projects and take initiative.
• Ability to develop project schedules and budgets, track milestones, and manage meeting follow-up items.
• Willingness to work on diverse projects and tasks.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training certification.
• Marketing, proposal-writing, and project management skills.
