Distribution Engineering Project Engineer 2 (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Remote, with employees required to work and reside in California, United States. Occasional visits to the SCE facility in Pomona, California are expected, along with up to 15% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $101,900–$152,800 per year

What you will do

• Coordinate distribution engineering projects and prioritize, organize, and distribute project and task work.
• Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, identify problems, and implement improvements.
• Assess system events and equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans, correspondence, and project documentation.
• Perform power system modeling and analysis using engineering software and develop electrical facility designs, including equipment sizing and one-line diagrams.
• Develop tracking mechanisms, training materials, technology strategies, and process improvements across engineering and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematical field.
• At least two years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• Ability to work and reside in California while working remotely, with occasional facility attendance and field travel.
• Ability to pass a Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation and complete required NERC/CIP training.

Nice to have

• Electric utility engineering or power system planning experience focused on distribution planning or operations.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Master of Business Administration or a master’s degree in a related engineering field.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain licensure.
