Senior Process Development Engineer – 2D Growth (Graphene)

Location: Aachen, Germany; hybrid role with on-site work in the Aachen cleanroom

What you will do

• Lead high-temperature process development, layer-property mapping, and recipe optimization for graphene and other 2D materials.
• Install, commission, qualify, and optimize process tools for FabONE.
• Develop and stabilize repeatable graphene-growth recipes for defect-density and film-property specifications.
• Integrate graphene growth and transfer processes on 300 mm substrate wafers with Process Integration and Metrology teams.
• Establish SPC baselines, characterization protocols, SOPs, safety procedures, and technical documentation.
• Drive defect reduction, yield improvement, root-cause analysis, and reliable furnace-process operations.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in high-temperature furnace operations and thermal processing.
• Hands-on semiconductor process development, process control, and baseline stabilization experience in a cleanroom fab.
• Experience commissioning and qualifying process tools and releasing processes into operation.
• Experience with SPC and DOE methodologies, including JMP or Minitab.
• Familiarity with thin-film characterization techniques such as sheet-resistance measurement, Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy, AFM, or SEM.
• Ability to work on site in an ISO 5/6 cleanroom while wearing full cleanroom PPE and handling wafer cassettes, precursor canisters, and high-temperature furnace hardware.

Nice to have

• Experience with CVD synthesis of graphene or other 2D materials.
• Experience with thermal furnace processes.
