Materials Engineer M&P – Specialising in Metals and Surface Technology (m/f/d)

Location: hirify.global operates from Augsburg and Bremen, Germany, and the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. Mobile working is available according to the area of responsibility.

What you will do

• Select, develop, and qualify metals, composites, hybrids, and surface treatments for aerospace and defence components.
• Prepare technical specifications, process documentation, material data sheets, and qualification reports.
• Optimise heat-treatment, surface-treatment, cleaning, and production processes for series components.
• Plan and conduct mechanical materials testing, including fracture toughness, fatigue, and low-cycle fatigue tests.
• Evaluate test results, investigate material and process deviations, and perform surface analyses on large components.
• Modernise testing and production workflows through digitalisation, data management, automation, and collaboration with engineering, quality, suppliers, and research partners.

Requirements

• Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of surface technology, metallic materials, manufacturing processes, heat treatment, furnace systems, and pyrometry.
• Experience with mechanical materials testing, ideally fracture mechanics and testing under extreme temperatures.
• Practical experience operating hydraulic testing machines such as Instron, Zwick/Roell, or MTS.
• Experience with qualification and validation according to standards such as ECSS and MIL-STD.
• Very good German and English required. A pragmatic, hands-on, product-oriented, and solution-focused approach is expected.
