Principal Engineer - Automation (Robotics)

Location: Remote within the United States; based at the Nashville, Tennessee location. Travel required 25%–50%.

Salary: $108,479–$184,414 annually.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, development, integration, and deployment of warehouse material-management automation systems.
• Execute automation product designs from concept through production, including specifications, validation, testing, and launch.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, safety, quality teams, vendors, and integrators to deliver automation solutions.
• Define design standards, scopes of work, and operating descriptions for warehouse material-handling processes.
• Evaluate system performance, cost, capital expenditure requirements, schedules, and logistical tradeoffs.
• Provide expert guidance to automation engineers and educate technology deployment and plant-floor operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, mechatronic engineering, robotics engineering, or a similar field.
• 10 years of experience developing, integrating, and deploying mechatronic and robotic systems, including distribution-center automation and digitization.
• 5 years of CAD/CAM experience and knowledge of part design, advanced assemblies, and configuration management.
• 5 years of hands-on experience creating proof-of-concept models and prototypes.
• Project management experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to complete full-lifecycle work against milestones.
• Ability to travel 25%–50% and work remotely within the United States.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Certified Automation Professional, Project Management Professional, or Certified Lean Six Sigma designation.
• Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.
