Manager, Developer Relations - Open Source (AI)

What you will do

• Own developer relations strategy and outcomes for the open source portfolio, including Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Apache Iceberg, MLflow, and Omnigent.
• Hire, level, coach, and grow a team of Developer Advocates while supporting their career development.
• Build trust and engagement across Apache Software Foundation, Linux Foundation, and related open source communities.
• Create and deliver technical talks, panels, meetups, blogs, videos, tutorials, courseware, sample notebooks, and datasets.
• Grow external adoption, contributions, user groups, and the next generation of open source maintainers.
• Represent community needs within R&D, define success metrics, and apply AI-assisted workflows to increase team leverage.

Requirements

• 8+ years of combined experience in developer relations or advocacy and a hands-on technical role.
• 2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team, including hiring, leveling, and promotions.
• Substantial, verifiable open source contributions and experience with governance, release processes, and community norms.
• Established relationships with the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
• Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack and working knowledge of the agentic open source landscape, including Omnigent.
• Exceptional communication, community-building, collaboration, and people-development skills.
