Lead Data Architect (Databricks)

What you will do

• Design and own the Databricks-based data platform architecture from data ingestion and transformation through deployment.
• Define data modeling standards, data warehousing strategy, and access and security architecture.
• Partner with Data Engineering to translate architectural designs into scalable data pipelines.
• Own platform performance, cost efficiency, reliability, and technical standards for onboarding new data domains.
• Advise leadership on build-versus-buy decisions and data platform tooling.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with Databricks or Snowflake and designing cloud data warehouses at scale.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipeline design, and data security and access controls.
• Experience working in a regulated or compliance-sensitive environment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthtech, life sciences, or clinical research data environments.
• Familiarity with CDISC or other clinical data standards.
• Experience supporting AI/ML teams with structured data foundations.
• Experience leading or managing data engineering teams.
• Experience with dbt, KPI metrics, entity resolution, or AI/ML models in data pipelines.
